I was referred to a client that had accounting chaos but didn’t know how to fix it. The office manager in a one-person office could not get accurate accounting reports. I did an internal audit, found the discrepancies, adjusted entries and balanced all accounts. I then trained the office manager in new procedures, how to check for errors, how to correct them and how to move forward. Although she was a very good manager she knew she wasn’t an accountant. So I created simple systems. When she has questions, she calls me; and once each quarter I review her books, make any necessary adjustments, and answer any other questions she may have.
